Leona Francis
Sophmore, Computer Science
Hi! I’m Leona, a Computer Science student in the CEAMLS SAIRI Summer Research program.
I’m a rising sophomore at Morgan State University, with a minor in Pre-Law. My mission? To bring color, personality, and fun back to tech. I’m obsessed with everything pink and Hello Kitty, and I firmly believe that computer science doesn’t have to be boring or gray. Whether I’m coding a new project, building custom cyberdecks, or repurposing old, forgotten tech into something fresh and functional, I’m all about aesthetics meeting innovation. I’m carving out a path to make a major impact in the tech world. My current goals include: Software Engineering: Developing sleek, user-centric applications. Artificial Intelligence: Exploring the future of AI and how to make it more accessible and engaging. Cyber Law: Combining my CS background with my pre-law minor to navigate the digital frontier, protect user privacy, and advocate for ethical tech.
Beyond Research
In My Headphones
A mix of absolutely everything, but my daily rotation heavily features Pop, Hip-Hop/Rap, and K-Pop.
Reading
Romance novels and manga's — both equally inspiring.
On the Screen
Obsessed with early 2000s and late 90s coming-of-age movies, classic rom-coms (the nostalgia and fashion are unmatched) and all the spiderman movies.
