Day 2 — Meeting the mentors

What I Learned

Today we started off the session with a little infosight from the director of CEAMLS Dr. Nyarko. He told us a little more about the program as well as what CEAMLS is and what they do. I found it very interesting and it made me more excited to continue on in this program. We then got to meet our mentors. My mentors are Blessing Adieko and Dr. Saroj Pramanik. Blessing was very nice and welcoming. She explained a lot about what our topic is for research as well as what we were going to be doing. Dr.Pramanik helped explain what skin cancer and melanoma was and how it can develop. He also told us the different layers of skin and where skin cancer and melanome formed. Afterwards we had a discussion about why we each chose this topic as well as why we signed up for this program. After the session with our mentors we went back to the main chanel and we got to finish our codeacademy before our figma workshop. This helped me learn how to use figma and to build not just a wireframe but a high fidelty wire-frame(A new word i learned from codeacademy).We also learned how to recreate webpages/mock-ups in figma. We then went into our python workshops where i got a refresh on python and also learned some new things i might’ve missed in my classes during the school year.
